Hamilton’s Tavern is a traditional neighborhood alehouse located in the heart of the historic South Park area of San Diego.

1521 30th Street has been licensed to serve beer and wine for over 75 years, making it the oldest beer and wine licensed location in San Diego. Formerly the beloved dive bar, Sparky’s, Hamilton’s opened in 2006 under new ownership and is now solely focused on offering the highest quality ales, real ales and craft beers from around the world.

Their 28 tap handles and 2 cask beer engines feature the finest ales crafted by our local beer artisans and carefully selected micros / imports. Striving to carry the best beers available in an extensive range of brew styles, Hamilton's keeps a distinguished and rotating selection of ales on tap, such as:

Allagash Odyssey
Anchor Porter
Grand Teton Tail Waggin’ Double White Ale
Green Flash West Coast IPA
Rogue John John Dead Guy

Hamilton’s Tavern also boasts one of the most diverse bottle selections in San Diego.  Offering over 200 bottled beers with a heavy emphasis on traditional Belgian Craft Beers, carrying the best beers available in an extensive range of brew styles is an undertaking they're happy to take on.

As of May 3rd, Hamilton's carrys 221 bottles including:

Baird Red Rose Amber
Avery Ellies Brown
Baird Rising Sun Pale
Rogue Chocolate Stout
La Trappe Isid'or
La Chouffe
Rodenbach Grand Cru
Fuller’s Vintage Ale 2008 Limited
North Coast Old Rasputin XII
Shipyard Pumpkinhead
Hofstetten Kubelbier

Now, if that wasn't enough, on the 2nd Saturday of each month, this award winning bar selects one of their favorite local breweries and feature several of their beers on draft at a discounted rate.  They also release a cask-conditioned ale (real ale), chosen by the brewer, of one of their specialty brews.  But wait - there's more.  Besides the amazing cask and draft beer specials, they build a gourmet smokehouse food-pairing based on the cask style, served free-of-charge to our customers.

Did someone say FREE?  Did someone say gourmet smokehouse paired with cask beer?

They have a great music selection too. If you like Blues and Rock ’n’ Roll, and you love beer, this place is like heaven...the kind of heaven where you might bump into Ray Gillen, Randy Rhoads, John Bonham or Bon Scott swiggin' a cold one.

This is definately my kinda place.
