First on tap in the Stout Day celebration is the brewery’s Condition Black, a seasonal Imperial Cascadian Dark Ale, 100 IBU, coming in at 8% ABV. Also called an “Imperial Black IPA”, this relatively new style is dark like a porter, but hoppy like an IPA. Condition Black pours thick, opaque and black with a deep brown head. Resinous, piney hops first hit the nose, followed by healthy doses of roasted malt flavors, including coffee, anise and cocoa.
Next on tap is CVB’s bourbon barrel aged Coffee Whopper with Ethiopian coffee. Coming in at 9% ABV, the Coffee Whopper is an Imperial Espresso Milk Stout...and it's fricken' delicious.
Chris will also bring out their bourbon barrel aged Sundae Whopper w/ cocoa nibs & Tahitian vanilla beans. This 10% stout lives up to its name with tart Montmorency cherries added to the brew.
Next up in the Stout Day lineup is another barrel aged beauty.
Bourbon barrel aged Whopper on Fire is a fiery 9% ABV stout brewed with ghost chilies, scorpion chilies and home smoked chipotles.
Last, but certainly not least is their bourbon barrel aged Black Widow. Bring a designated driver and indulge in this 17% ABV. This granddaddy of a beer was brewed with Maris Otter malt base, black patent, roasted malt, carafe 3, crystal 120 and oats and then aged in Four Roses bourbon barrels.
